American Society for Microbiology or ASM is a life science society, and it is also the largest of its kinds. As such, ASM comprises more than 30,000 scientists and health professionals. As the name indicates, the mission of American Society for Microbiology is to promote and advance microbial sciences.
What American Society for Microbiology does
ASM comprises various internal departments that work together to enhance the ASM’s mission. The following is a summary of each of these departments.
The American ACADEMY OF MICROBIOLOGY
The American Academy of Microbiology is the world’s oldest and largest life science organization to provide leadership within the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), The Academy’s mission is to recognize scientists for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of microbiology and to provide expertise in microbiology as a service to science and to humanity.
